Harriet Benge

Hi, I’m Harriet Benge. Fitness is an important part of my life. I have always loved being active, and some of my hobbies over the years include swimming, tennis, running, sailing, cycling, hiking and outdoor fitness. I’ve competed in cycle challenges at home and abroad, and enjoy obstacle races, tough mudders, and Spartans.

I love taking part in outdoor exercise classes because it’s motivating to exercise with others, and uplifting to be surrounded by nature.

I’m a qualified Level 3 Fitness Trainer and am now running outdoor fitness classes, doing what I love. My programmes are varied and fun, and are adapted to suit your fitness level. You will get all-round fitness, improved strength, better heart health and more energy.

  • Get Strong and Lose Body Fat

    HIIT training will increase the size of your muscle fibres, making you stronger and more toned. This is best achieved by high intensity exercise with intervals of recovery. It can include jumping actions, lifting weights and sprinting.

    If this sounds hard, don’t worry! You will work as hard as you are able, and will get time to recover after each blast.

    You’ll burn more calories while you rest, as your body works to repair your muscles. This should reduce your body fat levels, as long as your diet is sensible.

    We train with dumbbells, kettlebells, battle ropes, slam balls, tyres, sandbags and resistance bands as well as using the terrain and structures available to us in the park.

  • Get Fit

    Aerobic exercise includes running, jumping, and resistance training with a higher number of repetitions and lower intensity than HIIT training. This kind of exercise leads to an increased heart size, meaning that more oxygen is delivered to your muscles.

    This enables you to produce more aerobic energy. You’ll improve your quality of life, carry out every day functions better and be able to run further and faster without getting out of breath.

    Your body will adapt to training, improving your muscular strength. Resistance training is great for your bone mineral density and your joint strength, reducing your risk of injury.

    Regular vigorous exercise has been proven to reduce the risks of many conditions, such as:

    heart disease,stroke, type 2 diabetes, breast cancer in women, osteoarthritis, hip fracture, dementia and depression.

    My classes are carefully planned to workout all parts of your body, moving your joints in all planes of movement to maximise strength and mobility and reduce chance of injury.

    You’ll see improvement in your balance, posture and mental sharpness - all round benefits!

How It Works

Classes contain a mixture of HIIT and aerobic training, focusing on all body areas. Some classes may contain more HIIT and others more aerobic training.

This will be balanced out over the week and the month, so you will get all round fitness no matter which days you attend.

The class format is different each time. Sometimes we’ll use equipment, sometimes we’ll move all around the park, sometimes we’ll do circuit training. Everything is planned to progress your fitness while keeping up your enjoyment levels.
